Chandigarh: There are only a few hours left when the tractor parade to be organized by the farmers on the occasion of Republic Day will roll out. The farmers have completed their preparations on the Delhi border.
The number of tractors on the Singhu border and Tikri border has started swelling.
To be a part of the protest, farmers from different cities and villages across Punjab are also on their way to the Delhi border.
While this movement is getting support from different parts of Punjab, the political parties have also supported the movement by issuing statements.
PUNJAB CHIEF MINISTER APPEALS TO FARMERS
Regarding the Kisan Parade, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has appealed to the farmers to ensure that the event remains peaceful and they should abide by law and order.
Captain Singh said that during the tractor parade, farmers should maintain dignity and honour and also urged the central government to understand the sufferings of farmers on the occasion of the Republic Day and listen to their voice.
He also said that the tractor parade will underline that the nature of the Indian Constitution and especially the speciality of our Republic is incomparable.
SHIROMANI AKALI DAL JOINS FARMERS’ PARADE
The Shiromani Akali Dal said that it fully supports the Kisan Parade being held on January 26 and all the programmes have been cancelled by the party and its workers will join the parade along with the farmers.
AAM AADMI PARTY MLAS TRAVEL TO DELHI FROM ASSEMBLY CIRCLES
The kind of information, which is pouring in, suggests that tractors are getting stuck during their march on the roads.
The Aam Aadmi Party has decided that their MLAs will leave their respective assembly circles towards Delhi and they will be part of the tractor parade.
THE CONVOY OF LUXURY VEHICLES JOIN TRACTOR MARCH IN MARCH
Everyone is contributing in his own way to the farmers’ movement. On January 26, the support to this farmer parade was also seen in Ludhiana where a rally was organized in the form of a convoy of luxury cars.
These vehicles were studded with the flags of the farmer movement.
From Ludhiana, women have themselves driven a tractor and have left for January 26 farmer tractor parade. In addition, a 1971 model tractor was also repaired and has been taken for the march.
THE CONVOY OF TRACTORS ALSO SEEN AT HARYANA-PUNJAB SAMBHU BORDER
For the past several days, farmers from Punjab have been going to Delhi in a convoy of tractors, which can easily be seen at Haryana-Punjab Shambhu border.
Apart from this, farmers from different parts of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Patiala and Sangrur have travelled to Delhi in their own way. One can see images of different places where a large number of women, children and elderly are also present in the rally and patriotic songs are echoing on the tractors.
Farmers who have not been able to reach this parade themselves have sent their tractors to Delhi.
Many farmers were seen carrying two or three tractors with one tractor pulling them.
Many farmers were seen placing tractors on their trolley. Another special thing was also observed among these farmers going to the parade.
There was no big jam anywhere because all were moving together from one side.
PUNJAB POLICE ON ALERT
Punjab Police is also vigilant on the eve of Republic Day and tractor rally in Delhi.
On the occasion of the Republic Day, security was beefed up by the police.
This time security arrangements are being seen to be much tighter. In order to maintain law and order in the state, blockade and patrolling has been increased.
Instructions have been issued to all SPs to be on extra vigil. The police are already ensuring the security of the homes and farms of the farmers involved in the Delhi movement.
Apart from this, the peasant families who are unable to join the movement are engaged in taking care of the family property left behind by the male peasants.
At the same time, information is being received that security has been intensified in Punjab also due to farmers’ parade in Delhi, although no senior official has confirmed.
It is being kept secret by the government so that any kind of fear among the people doesn’t arise. Police have been asked to be extra vigilant to deal with any situation.
