Speaking to ETV Bharat, the temple's priest narrated the tale behind the temple and its significance.

It is said that in the final year of their exile, the Pandavas were workers at the court of King Virat to conceal their identity.

The King's daughter, Princess Uttara was later married to Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers.

It is also believed that it is from the Pandav Sarovar Mandir that the Pandavas left for the war.

Locals say that the fort of King Virata also exists in the city but now lies in ruins due to the government's neglect.
