Man ridicules Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab, held

A case has been registered against a man for ridiculing the Guru Granth Sahib and destroying the Darbar Sahib at a Gurudwara in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib. Meanwhile, the family members of the accused have stated that he is mentally challenged.

Fatehgarh Sahib: Police in Punjab have registered a case against a person who ridiculed the Guru Granth Sahib, the central religious scripture of Sikhism, at a Gurudwara in Fatehgarh Sahib on Monday.

The incident took place around 4:10 am in Turan village near Gobindgarh Mandi.

The person entered into the Gurudwara in the wee hours and started destroying the Darbar Sahib.

The incident was captured in a CCTV footage where he is seen sitting on the top of the holy altar.

On getting informed, the Sangat gathered at the Gurudwara and handed over the person to the police.

Meanwhile, the family members of the accused have claimed that he is mentally unstable.

An investigation into the matter is underway.
