Four of family, domestic worker killed in Punjab's Tarn Taran

Four members of a family and a domestic worker were killed by unidentified men at Kairon village here in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased were identified as Brij Lal, his two daughters-in-law, Brij Lal’s driver Gursahib Singh Saba and Daljit Singh.

Tarn Taran (Punjab): Four members of a family and a domestic worker were killed by unidentified men at Kairon village here in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

Brij Lal (65), Daljit Singh (22), two daughters-in-law Amandeep Kaur (26) and Jaspreet Kaur (28), and Brij Lal’s driver Gursahib Singh Saba (35) were found dead at their home, they said.

Their throats were slit with a sharp-edged weapon, Superintendent of Police Jagjit Singh Walia said, adding that investigation into the matter was underway.

Brij Lal had multiple cases related to drug peddling registered against him, while his wife Ranjit Kaur died a year ago in Amritsar Central Jail, where she was lodged on narcotic charges, police said, adding his three other sons Paramjit Singh Pamma, Bakshish Singh Sonu and Gurjant Singh are drug addicts.

Paramjit and Sonu were in a drug de-addiction centre in Tarn Taran while Gurjant was not at home at the time of the incident.

Deceased Jaspreet Kaur was the wife of Bakshish and Amandeep that of Paramjit. Both couples have two children each, who were left alone by the murderers. SP JS Walia said investigation is on to ascertain the identity and motive of the killers.
