Faridkot (Punjab): In order to cater India's dearth of ventilators amid COVID-19 pandemic, a father-son duo of Punjab's Faridkot district has designed a low-cost ventilator with the help of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences' doctors.
Ratan Aggrawal along with his son, under the guidance of doctors, succeded in making the ventilator whose manufacturing cost is even less than Rupees 50,000.
Using a dummy of the human body, the ventilator was also tested successfully by the University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Raj Bahadur.
Speaking about this, Prof. Bahadur said, "Ratan and his son, who are not engineer by profession, have developed this ventilator using their brain. This ventilator has an Ambu-bag and some other supporting equipment so that its pressure can be increased or reduced as needed."
He further said that this ventilator will be very much helpful at the time of emergency, adding that the ventilator has been named after Baba Farid University.
It is to be noted that in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, entire mankind across the globe is suffering and India is under complete lockdown till May 3.
