10 PGI Chandigarh doctors make it to world's best top 2% scientists list

ETV Bharat held a special conversation with Dr Ravindra Khaiwal who features in the prestigious list where he told us that for the survey, the university team considered how much work has been done by which scientist in his subject.

Chandigarh: In a proud moment for India, 10 scientists of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh (PGIMER) have been included in the list of top scientists around the world put together by the prestigious Stanford University of America.

Amongst those is Dr Ravindra Khaiwal who ranked 176th top scientist worldwide, ranked seventh in India. He works for the betterment of the environment.

ETV Bharat held a special conversation with Dr Ravindra Khaiwal who features in the prestigious list where he told us that for the survey, the university team considered how much work has been done by which scientist in his subject.

How much research is done and where the research papers have been published was also one of the criteria.

Dr Khaiwal added that at least 100,000 scientists were included in this survey and a separate list of India had been made by the Stanford University.

India's top two per cent scientists were included in the list where Dr Khaiwal ranked 7th.

Dr Ravinder added that he has done a lot of work on the environment, in which most of the research has been on the issues of pollution that how to prevent it.

What solutions can be done to stop the pollution spreading in different ways? What kind of diseases are people getting from pollution and how can they be protected from contaminated gases are some other topics of Dr's research. Many such research of his has also been published internationally.

Besides this, he said that after this survey, scientists feel very encouraged. If such surveys are conducted in India too, then scientists will get more enthusiasm to work which will in turn also speed up their research.
