Chandigarh: A total of 21 stranded migrants were sent back to their home state Uttar Pradesh after ETV Bharat highlighted their struggle.

A message from the administration's end was sent to these migrants stating that the government has scheduled a 'Shramik Special' train on Tuesday which will depart for Hardoi from Chandigarh at 7 in the evening. The message further read that the migrants need to be present at the bus terminus at around 2 in the afternoon so that their screening can be done.

However, the migrants claimed that the information was incorrect as they didn't find any such facilities available when they gathered at the bus stand. "No screening was done, there was no further communication neither could we see any facility to ferry stranded labourers to the bus stand, it was all a sham. We have been spending our days on the roadside as we left our rented homes a few days ago" a migrant added.

After ETV Bharat conveyed their struggle to the administration, the migrants were sent back to their home state on Friday evening. Further, ETV Bharat team provided them food and with the help of administration, and police, migrants were taken to spend their night at a shelter home where they were provided meals and other basic necessities.
