Masked men rob woman DSP at gunpoint in Bhubaneswar

Two bike-borne miscreants allegedly targeted a lady Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in front of her government quarter near the Press Club of Odisha in Unit-III and snatched her gold chain and earrings at gun point.

Bhubaneshwar: A woman deputy superintendent of police (DSP) was allegedly targeted by two bike-borne miscreants, who snatched her gold jewelry at gun point in front of her government quarter near the Press Club of Odisha in Unit-III here on Sunday.

The matter came to light after the woman DSP, Tanuja Mohanty lodged a complaint at Kharavela Nagar Police Station in this regard.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred at around six in the morning when Mohanty, who is posted at Vigilance cell unit in the capital, noticed two persons on a motorcycle near one of the houses.

Soon, the duo headed towards her house and the person riding pillion approached her, while she turned to go inside. When their attempt to distract the woman cop to execute their plan failed, they forcibly opened the gate of her quarter and attempted to snatch her chain.

As per reports, the victim shouted for help after she caught hold of the miscreant's collar. Though she was fell on the ground when the duo pushed her, she managed to hold one of the miscreants. Her husband, who came to her rescue, was threatened by the criminals, and asked to go inside.

The duo, who had covered their faces with handkerchiefs, pointed the gun at the lady cop and snatched her gold chain, earrings and bangles and fled from the spot.

Based on the complaint, police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
