Sambalpur: A man in Rampela village in Odisha's Sambalpur district is drawing attention for creating a 'robotic nurse' to attend to Covid patients. He claims his creation will stop the spread of the disease to health workers.
Ashish Mahana, the developer of the 'Robotic Nurse' said, it can go a long way in limiting contact between coronavirus patients and other human beings. Thereby, the use of the 'Robotic Nurse' will limit the spread of the virus.
The robot can be operated both by remote control and hand gestures. The robot delivers food, water and medication to patients admitted to the COVID-19 ward in the hospital.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Mahana said, "A camera capable of moving 360 degrees is fitted to the robot. Microphone, speaker, dust bin and wiper are also attached to it. At the same time, the robot can also help in keeping the hospital premises clean."

"Along with this, the robot can also sanitise itself. Even if a doctor is unable to come near a patient, this robot can make available medicine and drinking water to the patient and keep a vigil over everything around."
"The robot is easy to control and functions smoothly. This was developed to help in the fight against coronavirus. If the state government permits, it will be soon available in hospitals and can be considered as another wonder of science," Mahana said.
While the central government is now encouraging to Make in India and Atma Nirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) programmes, if proper patronage is given to Ashish’s invention, then this robot would be very useful in the fight against the dreaded virus in the present situation.
