Jharsuguda: Ankan, an I.T. professional from Sambalpur District of Odisha now based in London, has voluntarily taken part in the human trial of a vaccine for COVID-19 being conducted by “The Jane” institute of the Oxford University of London. After a full screening, he has been vaccinated last Saturday.

In the second and third phases of this human trial, the vaccine has been tried on a total of ten thousand persons. If it is successful then the production of the vaccine would commence soon to combat epidemics like Corona.

According to reports, this institute has been approved for the production of the vaccine in both developed and developing countries including the Serum Institute of India located in Poona. The Oxford University and the Pune-based Medical company, the Serum Institute are jointly researching a vaccine relating to Covid-19. Since phase two and phase three trial of the vaccine is continuing simultaneously, it is expected that vaccines for the Coronavirus could be manufactured by the end of October next. Ankan Nayak has become a volunteer for the human trial of the medicine. He has taken the vaccine which is under research for trial in the human body.

According to Ankan, ten thousand volunteers were required by Oxford to start the human trial of 10,000 vaccines. After coming to know about this he had voluntarily expressed his eagerness for the job. Now he is sending daily reports about his health condition online in the format prescribed by them.

It may be mentioned here that Ankan has been staying in London for the last five years. He is serving in an I.T. Company there. He happens to be the son of the Former Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Jharsuguda Dr. Binod Nayak. At present Ankan’s father and mother are both staying at Majhi Palli on the outskirts of Sambalpur town.
