Bus services remain suspended on Odisha bandh against fuel price hike

Protesting against frequent fuel price hike, Odisha Congress has given a call for Statewide bandh. Buses would not operate and schools would remain shut during the seven hours.

Bhubaneswar: As the Congress party in Odisha has given a call for bandh in the State against skyrocketing fuel prices, services and programs in the State would remain suspended between 6 am to 1 pm. Bus Owners Association has also decided not to operate buses during the hours.

Treasurer of the association informed the decision to halt the bus services for seven hours during the State-wide bandh has been taken keeping in mind the safety of passengers and buses.

Earlier, the Odisha government said educational institutions including schools are closed across the State due to the State-wide bandh call. Also, the Education Department directed schools to be shut on Tuesday and Saraswati Puja celebration would not be held.

Odisha Congress called for the State-wide bandh protesting frequent fuel price hike. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Niranjan Patnaik informed a peaceful state-wide bandh would be observed, however, ambulance, milk van, hearse and marriage vehicles would not be stopped during the shutdown.
