Odisha: 45 silver bricks recovered from Emar Mutt

As many as 45 silver ingots were recovered from Emar Mutt in Puri. The development came a day after a trust appointed by the Commissioner of Endowment took over the mutt.

Puri (Odisha): The very famous Emar Mutt in Odisha's Puri district has again grabbed headlines after as many as 45 silver bricks recovered from one of its rooms on Saturday.

According to reports, after the new Trust Board took charge of the management of the Mutt, the hand over process of properties of the mutt is going on. And following the process, the huge stock of silver was found from four wooden containers placed inside a room of the mutt.

In 2010 the Endowment Department had listed different articles of the mutt. In this list, the said 45 silver bricks were also listed.

In 2022, as many as 522 silver bricks had been seized from the mutt premises which were not listed in the Endowment list, reports said

According to the Mahant of the mutt, the bricks were buried beneath the floor as the mutt was unsafe. After the intervention of the Endowment Department, these bricks have been recovered.

Each of these bricks are said to be more than 30 kgs. After weight and measure, these bricks will be handed over to the new Trust Board.
