Balasore (Odisha): A man allegedly killed his wife and chopped the body into pieces and put them in a sack. Later, he disposed of the body parts in Balasore. The incident was reported from Palasia village under Basta police station limits in the Balasore district of Odisha on Sunday. The deceased woman was identified as Mama Das, the wife of Sadhab Das.
Villagers spotted the alleged killer Sadhab and his family members with a heavy sack and they grew suspicious. Immediately, they informed Mama Das's family. The dismembered body of Mama Das was then found by her family stuffed inside the sack. According to reports, the husband identified as Sadhab Das and some of his family members escaped since the incident came to light on Sunday. However, the deceased's mother-in-law and brother-in-law were detained by the Basta police and are being questioned.

The reason behind the heinous and inhuman act, however, is yet to be ascertained. Ten years ago Sadhab Das married Mama Das of Raisuan village. Villagers informed the police that the couple used to have heated arguments over petty issues regularly. On receiving the information, the Basta police reached the spot and launched a probe into the murder. They are looking for the weapon used in the incident as well as launching a man-hunt for the alleged accused Sadhab Das.
It is ironic that of late many incidents where spouses and lovers murdering their partners coming to the fore. The brutality of chopping the bodies into pieces is shocking as it's an inhuman act. A series of incidents that came to light across the country has become a cause for concern.
