Bolangir: In a heart-wrenching incident, a man allegedly burned his 75-year-old bed-ridden mother alive following a quarrel with his father at Radabahal village under Belpada block here on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Asmat Kharsel.
He was arrested by cops on Saturday morning.
As per reports, son Santosh kharsel quarrelled with his father over some issue and thrashes him with a stick.
When his father ran to the villagers for help, Santosh poured kerosene over his bed-ridden mother and set her on fire.
While his mother was charred to death on the spot, the accused immediately fled the scene.
On intimation, police swung into action too and caught hold of the accused. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway.
