Nuapada: District administration has failed to get the custody of two poverty-ridden children leading a wretched life as their uncle refused to allow DCPU team to take away the kids for the want of permission from their father who lives in Hyderabad. The DCPU team had to return empty-handed from the village after their efforts to persuade children's uncle failed.
District Administration reached out to get the custody of four years old Kuro and three years old Parami, after a report as to their pathetic living conditions was shown by ETV Bharat on 11th May. The initiative was taken by none other than Naupada district magistrate Poma Tuddu who wanted to rehabilitate the virtually abandoned kids and take care of their education and living.
A team of district administration and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) went to the Mandalpakhan village yesterday to bring the kids for their rehabilitation following a proposal prepared by Gorla Village Panchayat after the story was run by ETV Bharat. But the outcome hasn't squared up as per their intention for kids' paternal uncle Rajman Banwasi declined the proposal. Banwasi said that kids' father was at Hyderabad and after his return, they can take the kids.
Talking to ETV Bharat, Gorla Sarpanch Dilip Majhi said," They could have led a good and prosperous life. It is their fundamental right to get food, education and a proper place of living".
Meanwhile, Naupada district administration has praised the efforts of ETV Bharat for bringing out the plight of two kids to the fore.
