Ghost promotes stay at home campaign in Odisha's Khurda

"Beware! Stay at home, no urgent work, footsteps getting out of the house will lead to the infection," says a person who has been dressed up as a ghost in view of Coronavirus infection in the streets of Odisha's Khurda district.

Bhubaneswar: In view of Coronavirus infection, a person from Odisha's Khurda district has dressed up as a ghost to stress on the need for the people to stay indoors during the lockdown.

After Odisha's Khurda district was categorized as a COVID-19 hotspot by the Government of India, the police are trying to enforce lockdown with strictness in many places in the state.

In such a novel method, the artist, named Dhaneshwar Bidhar, dressed up as a ghost moves patrolling the city and delivers awareness messages in a dramatic fashion accompanied by a demonic laugh on the public announcement system.

In Odia, the ghost says, "Beware! Stay at home, no urgent work, footsteps getting out of the house will lead to the infection."

On being asked Dhaneshwar said that he has been dressed up as a fictitious character in the form of a ghost with the aim of sensitizing the public about the importance of remaining indoors if they want not to be infected by the coronavirus.

Notably, Khurda district detected with 46 positive cases (37 active cases) has been categorized as a hotspot district with large outbreaks of coronavirus. It is among 123 such districts of the country.
