Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda formed a four-member inquiry committee to investigate the Hanuman Jayanti violence in Sambalpur.
The panel will be led by Rajya Sabha MP and former DGP of Uttar Pradesh Brij Lal. The Fact-finding team will go to the spot and inspect and report to the president.
Besides Brij Lal, Rajya Sabha MPs from Jharkhand, Samir Oraon and Aditya Sahu, and MP from West Bengal Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato will be part of the team. The team will gather details after interacting with locals to assess the possible reason which led to the violence and then submit a report to Nadda.

Earlier, Odisha BJP State President Manohar Samal wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the violence in Sambalpur during the Hanuman Jayanti procession. He demanded an NIA probe into the incident of violence. In the letter, he demanded strict action against the conspirators, who were involved in the incident.
On April 12, violence broke out during a Hanuman Jayanti procession in Sambalpur. Stone pelting ensued between the two groups. The violence left one person dead and several policemen injured.
