BJD expels MLA Pradeep Panigrahi for 'anti-people' activities
Biju Janata Dal MLA Pradeep Panigrahi has been expelled from the 'conch party' on Sunday. Panigrahi has also been dismissed from the primary membership of the party for his “anti-people activities”.
Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janta Dal (BJD) on Sunday expelled former minister of Odisha and sitting MLA Pradeep Panigrahi from the primary membership of the party for his anti-people activities.
The decision has been taken by the order of the Supremo of the Biju Janata Dal, Cheif Minister Naveen Patnaik.
In a press release BJD said, "Dr Pradeep Panigrahi, MLA Gopalpur is expelled from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect for his anti-people activities."
According to reports, BJD supremo's action against Panigarhi came after his alleged association with tainted IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak’s son Akash Kumar Pathak came to fore in media.
Both father and son have been arrested by the Vigilance on disproportionate assets case.
Tension mounted on Panigrahi as the wedding of Panigrahi’s daughter and Akash Pathak had been fixed and the date for it had been scheduled in December, reports added.
