Berhampur (Odisha): A nine-year-old girl of Berhampur in Odisha has gone a step ahead and created a mobile application which will help people in their emergency time.
Aradhya Choudhury, a Class IV student, said she had taken it upon herself to find a solution of emergency service that people can use to send distress calls in an emergency.
The app, 'Raksha Kavach', is available on Windows and Android phones and has been widely accepted by users.
"I have seen many people feel distressed in an emergency situation and they could not find any solution for their problems. So I decided to develop such a mobile application which will provide various emergency services. 'Raksha Kavach' has the telephone numbers of various emergency services and can connect you to them at a touch whenever you are in distress," Aradhya told to ETV Bharat.
"This new app contains all the facilities for providing service and security to women, communicating with police and all emergency helpline numbers required at the time of train or road accidents. This safeguard app developed by properly utilizing my time during the lockdown period. Now I am working on artificial intelligence technology-based app, in which we can recognise the past profile of a person by using the image of that person or the voice which he or she used," she said.
"The app has several emergency numbers - police SOS, child abuse helpline, women's helpline, fire services, ambulance services etc. You don't have to remember or search for these emergency numbers when in need," she added.
Aradhya's father Binayak Choudhury is now working as a manager in a Bank in Uttarakhand and her mother is a housewife.
"With crime rates increasing across the country, this application will be of great help for people in distress and can save many lives. Using this app, anyone can call any of the emergency service providers at a touch because, during an emergency, every minute is crucial," said Santoshini Choudhury, Aradhya's mother.
"I am hopeful that my daughter will be among the young coding experts from India and hopefully, experts will take note of her work. Her efforts have been appreciated by several people and we are proud of her. Our entire family is now overwhelmed with the success of my daughter. The family members are hopeful that development of apps like this would go a long way in assisting the Self Reliant India programme under the new education policy of the Central Government," Choudhury said.
