After Bengaluru, Odisha has 242 children diagnosed with Covid-19

At least 242 children have tested positive for coronavirus in the state in the past two days. According to reports, 138 children tested positive for the virus on Sunday, while 104 children were found to be Covid positive on Monday.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha): At least 242 children have tested positive for coronavirus in the state in the past two days. According to reports, 138 children tested positive for the virus on Sunday, while 104 children were found to be Covid positive on Monday.

The majority of the cases detected are between the age group of 9 and 18. The Director of the Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET), CBK Mohanty, has said that the number of infections among children between the ages of 0 and 18 is likely to rise.

Odisha is the second state that has recorded a spike in Covid cases among children. A similar spike in covid cases among children was recorded by the Bengaluru civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

BBMP recorded over 240 cases of children testing positive for Covid-19 between August 6 and 10. In addition to the already detected cases, officials from the health department also warned of an exponential rise in the cases among children in the coming days.

The rise of Covid cases among children has reignited fears of the third wave of COVID-19 affecting children.
