Ahmednagar: Farmers across the country, including Punjab and Haryana, are still protesting against the new agriculture laws introduced by the Central government. However, the agitation is simmering as there is no direct dialogue between the government and the agitating farmers on this issue. It is now being said that the Centre is neglecting the protests. As a result, senior social activist Anna Hazare has questioned the Centre.

You come to ask for votes, who will solve the problem?
Anna has directly questioned the Modi government over the farmers' agitation. If you can go to the farmers to ask for votes during the elections, then why don't you go and discuss with them while the farmers' agitation is going on.

He has asked the Center whether the agitating farmers in Delhi came from Pakistan.

My full support to the Movement

''This treatment of farmers by the government in an agricultural country is not appropriate. When elections come, politicians go to the farmers and sometimes go home and ask for votes. Then why the government is not discussing their demands with them, why the farmers are being sprayed with water. One farmer was also killed in the incident. Yet farmers are still agitating with restraint," he said. He criticized the role of the central government and questioned who would be responsible if violence erupted. Meanwhile, farmers in Punjab and Haryana have joined the 'Delhi Chalo' agitation against agricultural laws. "I fully support this movement," he said.

Agitations Continue

Agitating farmers have set up sit-ins on Delhi's border. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had proposed the discussion to farmers' associations. However, Shah's proposal was rejected by the farmers.

The farmers also refused to go to Nirankari Samagam Maidan on the border of Delhi and Haryana for the agitation. So the movement is likely to ignite further.
