Sushant Singh Rajput's rent agreement sheds light on financial stress

According to sources, Sushant Singh Rajput was under medication because of depression. The late actor's rent agreement has now turned focus into financial stress as a possible cause for the alleged suicide.

Mumbai: Sushant Singh Rajput, the 34-year-old Bollywood actor allegedly committed suicide as his body was found hanging at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai.

Sources from the Bandra Police said that on the basis of primary investigation, a case of accidental death report will be registered. No suicide note was found from the spot, they said.

According to sources, Singh was under medication because of depression. He is survived by his father and four elder sisters.

It is now revealed that his Bandra house was rented just six months ago and the late actor had signed an agreement to stay in the duplex flat in posh Pali Hill area until December 2022.

The actor had even paid the deposit amount of Rs 12 lakh 90 thousand and as per rent agreement, Sushant paid a whopping Rs 4 lakh 51 thousand as rent for the first year. This brings focus on the financial stress as a possible cause for the suicide.

The last social media post shared by the actor, who hailed from Patna, was dedicated to his mother, who passed away in 2002 when he was a teenager.

"Blurred past evaporating from teardrops. Unending dreams carving an arc of smile. And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two," read the Instagram post shared on June 3 with his mother's picture.

His death comes just days after his former manager Disha Salian allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a building in Mumbai.

Meanwhile Sushant Singh Rajput's maternal uncle has rejected reports of suicide and has alleged "murder" while demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation-led inquiry into the incident.

The post-mortem reports are awaited. The last social media post shared by the actor, who hailed from Patna, was dedicated to his mother, who passed away in 2002 when he was a teenager.

In his last screen appearance, "Chhichhore", Rajput played the role of a father who conveys the message of hope and affirmation to his son after he attempts suicide.

After Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor succumbed to cancer and Wajid Khan from the Sajid-Wajid duo fell prey to the coronavirus pandemic, this is the fourth death of a famous personality from the Hindi film industry in the past two months.
