Mumbai (Maharashtra): The Mumbai Police produced arrested businessman Raj Kundra - the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty - before Mumbai's Esplanade Court this afternoon seeking his remand.
The Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday night arrested businessman and Bollywood actor Shilpa's Shetty's husband Raj Kundra on charges of creating and publishing pornographic content through applications. Eleven other people have also been arrested, however, Kundra appears to be the key conspirator in the case, a police official said. "We have sufficient evidence against Kundra," a police official said.

After his arrest, the Property Cell of Mumbai Police's Crime Branch took Kundra for medical examination at JJ hospital in the early hours of Tuesday and was later taken to Mumbai Police Commissioner's office. The case against Kundra was registered in February at the Malwani police station in suburban Mumbai after a woman approached the police and made certain allegations in her complaint. "After the woman approached the police, FIR was registered and the case was transferred to the Crime Branch. Earlier also, we had registered cases related to pornography in which an actress and some other persons were made accused," a police official said. "We will probe the Raj Kundra case and find out if there is any link between this and pornography cases which we had registered earlier," he further added.
Kundra was booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, he added. Further investigation is in progress.
