PMC seeks 25 lakh vaccine doses from SII

The Pune Municipal Corporation is in discussion with Adar Poonawalla, CEO, Serum Institute for Covishield vaccines. "We will take permission from the Central and the State governments but give us Rs 25 lakh vaccines right away," said Mayor Muralidhar Mohol.

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation is in discussion with Adar Poonawalla, CEO, Serum Institute, for Covishield vaccines.

"We will take permission from the Central and the State governments but give us Rs 25 lakh vaccines right away," said Mayor Muralidhar Mohol.

Due to the lack of vaccines in Pune, Municipal Corporation is unable to do appropriate planning. Therefore, the Corporation has decided to purchase the vaccine itself and discussions are underway with the Serum Institute.

Pune citizens face inconvenience regarding the vaccine:

The vaccination process for 18 to 44-year-olds and above 45-year-old people is underway in Pune city. The vaccination is being carried out by the Central and State Governments. However, the supply of vaccines has been erratic for the last few days. In such a situation, it is becoming difficult for the administration to make appropriate planning, which is causing inconvenience to the citizens.

"Till we get vaccines frequently, the situation will continue to be the same," the Mayor added.

Total of 9 lakh doses accomplished in Pune:

A total of 9 lakh citizens of Pune have been vaccinated. Out of which 1 lakh citizens got the second shot. Mayor Mohol informed that efforts are being made to continue to vaccinate the citizens as soon as possible.
