Solapur: The opposition has alleged Modi government for violating the Model Code of Conduct as an SBI ATM is advertising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Jan Dhan and Mudra Yojana here.
With the announcement of 2019 Lok Sabha election dates, the Model Code of Conduct came into effect from Sunday in the country. But, even now the ATM screen's advertisement is carried with full effect.
The ATM is reportedly located in the heart of the city and it has a huge amount of daily visitors. The opposition has now questioned about the action that the government will be taking in this regards.
The Model Code of Conduct is a set of guidelines issued by the Election Commission to regulate the political parties and their activities. It will remain in effect until the completion of the election.
All about Model Code of Conduct:
- After 1966 the Model Code of Conduct was proposed for the process of elections
- Its an order which lays down do's and don'ts for a candidate
- It also mentions the restrictions for the Centre and the government officers
- Election commission uses the MCC to conduct the elections in a fair manner. It appoints a supervisor/observer for every constituency to ensure that elections are being conducted under MCC guidelines
- It ensures that candidates don't bribe the voters
- Any violation of the Model Code of Conduct is dealt with the strictest action
- The MCC also lays guidelines for promoting and advertising elections
