Akola (Maharashtra): The whole world is coming together to overcome Coronavirus. On the other hand, a recent incident in Akola reflected the ugly side of human behaviour. Fearing the infection of coronavirus, a son decided to not participate in his father's funeral.
After that, some Muslim activists came forward and bid goodbye to the departed soul as per Hindu customs and traditions. This incident has become the talk of the town.
Coronavirus seems to be taking a toll on human relationships a lot, as relatives of the deceased people are not ready to accept them.
Across the world, there have been a lot of cases where parents died after fighting coronavirus after which they were not accepted by their children or close relatives. During such cases, the government carries out the last rites of such people who are not accepted by their families. There are many examples where relatives of the deceased cremated the person in the presence of government employees.
In Akola, after a man passed away due to Corona, the health department informed his children about it. At this point, the children distanced themselves from the father who died of Corona. Further to this, they also denied to cremate him.
However, as humans, the Muslim social activists performed the last rites as per Hindu traditions in the cemetery. Wasim Khan and Sameer Khan, two Muslim youths, lit the pyre. Prashant Rajurkar who works for the Corporation added that the son of the deceased man did not even pay last respects to his father.
Javed Zakaria, president, Kutchi Memon Samaj, said, "Whether it is cremation or burial, we are performing this ritual with great reverence. Be it Hindus or Muslims, we do the rites with a lot of patriotism. We all want to face Corona together. That is when we can overcome it."
