Mumbai: The Mumbai High Court today ruled on a petition filed by the Municipal Corporation against the action taken on Kangana Ranaut's office. Actress Kangana Ranaut has to be paid compensation, ordered the Mumbai HC. Apart from this, the allegations levelled against actress Kangana Ranaut by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation were asked to be dropped.
An inspector has been appointed to measure the damage caused during the demolition. The Mumbai High Court has also directed to submit the report of the appointed inspector to the Mumbai High Court by March 2021.
The Mumbai High Court, while ruling in Kangana's favour, directed Kangana Ranaut to carry out other constructions in her office if she wants to.
Kishori Pednekar, the Mayor of Mumbai, said that the court's decision in the Kangana Ranaut case has not been copied yet. It will be discussed when the copy arrives. Notice of 354 (a) has not been issued for the first time. Those cases have also gone to court. At that time, the court had ordered to take action as per the municipal rules. If such separate decisions are given in the case of an actress, it will also benefit other Mumbaikars. The municipal legal department and the commissioner will decide what to do next. Some have even turned the court into a political arena.

Actress Kangana Ranaut has expressed faith over the Mumbai High Court ruling in her favour after she claimed Rs 2 crore in damages against the Kangana Mumbai Municipal Corporation. "I have always believed in the rule of law and this is a victory for democracy," Kangana Ranaut said. Actress Kangana Ranaut said, "I am thankful to the people who mocked me after filing this petition. The people who went against me and made statements against me have given me more confidence to fight."
What is the case?
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's Pali Hill office in Mumbai was encroached upon by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Against this, Kangana had sought compensation of Rs 2 crore from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. A petition filed in the Mumbai High Court in this regard was heard. While submitting the affidavit on the petition from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, it was said that the action taken against Kangana's office was appropriate and the petition filed by her should be rejected. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation had also said that the compensation demanded by Kangana was a violation of the law.

What did the corporation have to say?
Mumbai Municipal Corporation lawyer Jewel Carlos, while arguing on behalf of the corporation, had told the Mumbai High Court that the allegations made by Kangana were false and that the action taken in her office was within the framework of the law. While routinely inspecting the office, the officials of the corporation found that there was unauthorized construction in these offices.
Due to this, the construction has been demolished by giving a formal notice to Kangana. The Mumbai High Court has been informed by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation that a toilet was constructed in the parking lot of the building and a kitchen was constructed in the place of the toilet.
Kangana claims this action is out of revenge
Actress Kangana had submitted some evidence in court from her lawyers. Kangana was issued a notice by the municipality after she commented on some issues on social media. However, Bollywood fashion designer Manish Malhotra was given a month to respond to the notice after he was issued a similar notice.
However, actress Kangana Ranaut had claimed in the Mumbai High Court that the action was taken in good faith as she was given only 24 hours to reply to the notice.
Compensation amounting to Rs 2 crore
Kangana had sought compensation of Rs 2 crore after the Municipal Corporation took stern action. She had demanded Rs 2 crore from the corporation. The BMC has blamed Kangana that her office comes under the residential area and it has been wrongly constructed.

Chief Minister should pay compensation from his pocket, says Atul Bhatkhalkar
Mumbai High Court today slapped the state government in the case of demolition of Kangana Ranaut's office. The demolition of Kangana Ranaut's house was an act of revenge. The High Court has also directed her to pay compensation. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation had taken action against Kangana only on the instructions of the Chief Minister of the state.
Therefore, the Chief Minister should take responsibility for the compensation to be paid to Kangana, besides the court costs incurred for her case. Bhatkhalkar demanded that the Chief Minister should pay the total amount from his pocket without paying it from the pockets of the people.
