Mumbai: In a counter terrorism bid, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested Mohammad Irfan Rahmat Ali Sheikh (50), a tailor by profession, from Bandra city. He has been brought to the ATS office in Nagpada for questioning.

Some incriminating documents and Rs4 lakh have been recovered from his possession, which was to be used for terrorist activities. He had received money from an unknown person whom we are trying to trace," the ATS said.

His name had come up during the interrogation of Zakir Hussain Shaikh, an auto driver, and Rizwan Momin, a tuition teacher, who were taken into custody by the state ATS earlier this month. Police stated that the accused were planning to carry out terror activities in Maharashtra.

Earlier on Sept. 14 a special squad of Delhi Police had arrested six people in connection with a terrorism case. The arrested people include Jan Mohammad Sheikh alias Sameer Kalia, a resident of Mumbai, Osama alias Sami, a resident of Jamia Nagar, Delhi, Mulchand alias Sadhu, a resident of Rae Bareli, UP, Zeeshan Kamar, a resident of Prayagraj, Mohammad Abu Bakar, a resident of Bahrai and Mohammad Amved, a resident of Lucknow.
