Gondia (Maharashtra): A 62-year-old woman in Gondia district was allegedly given two doses of the Covishield vaccine. Her condition is reported to be stable. The medical officer concerned, however, refuted the charge.

Anusaya Kevalchand Pardhi (62) from Goregaon taluka in Gondia, alleged that she was administered two doses of Covishield at the vaccination centre in Gidhadi, a village in Goregaon. The two doses were injected with an interval of 10 minutes between them, she said. Anusaya is under observation.

According to Anusaya, a former member of the Gram Panchayat, the health staff at the vaccination centre set up in a school in Gidhadi allegedly gave her the jab and asked her to wait. Ten minutes later, her name was called out again and she was allegedly administered the second dose. On returning home, she narrated the incident to her family and her son saw two injection marks on her body.

The medical officer at the vaccination centre refuted the allegation saying the administration had provided the Gidhadi vaccination centre with 50 doses and an equal number of syringes for the day. He said he has maintained a record of all the 50 people who were inoculated that day. "The vaccination was carried out as per the names in the list. Therefore it is unlikely that one person got two doses," the official said.
