Chandrapur (Maharashtra): The outbreak of COVID-19 across the country has brought out several latent humanitarian qualities and concern of people hit by the infection.
A brother-sister duo from the Bibi area in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district has decided to contribute their savings to the CM and PM's relief fund. They have been fasting since the start of lockdown.
For more than 20 days, 12-year-old Mehak and six-year-old Nihal have been fasting. They have kept aside more than a thousand rupees from their pocket money to the PM's relief fund and the Chief Minister's relief fund.
Asked about their novel decision, Mehak said," a lot of people are facing financial difficulties due to such a gloomy situation in the country. We have been fasting since the beginning of lockdown. Our parents also support our decision."
"The brother-sister duo was listening to the Prime Minister's address to the nation on the deadly virus on television. The children were so moved by the current situation caused by the spread of the virus that they made an instant announcement to contribute their savings to the Prime Minister's and Maharashtra Chief Minister's fund," their parents said.
Notably, Ramzan is considered as the holiest month for Muslims. Fasting is one of the most important aspects of this month. Though the holy month will begin next week, these kids have already completed their Ramzan fasting by doing a noble deed.
Reportedly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had, in his recent address to the nation focusing on the serious nature of the spread of the coronavirus, announced the establishment of a fund to which people can make their contribution.
The amount may be small but the intention is big and the sensitivity shown by these younger siblings are certainly inspiring in times like now.
