Amravati (Maharashtra): The Covid-19 cases are on the rise in Maharashtra and a huge number of new active infected patients are now being found in rural areas also.
In regard to this, Yashomati Thakur, State's Women and Child Welfare Minister has expressed doubts about the third wave of Covid-19 in Amravati, one of the major infected districts of the state.
To curb the situation, a strict lockdown has been imposed in the district for two days. The lockdown will last till May 15. All services, except medical services, have been shut down. Essential services have also been shut down.
In the urban areas, the new active patient’s statistics in low compared to the rural area due to which 130 villages in the district were sealed off.
Speaking to media persons, Thakur said, "A huge number of active Covid patients are found in the district. Over the last ten days, especially in the Amravati district, every day more than one thousand infected patients have been found."
"I am disappointed that some people are not following the guidelines, even as the number of corona victims is increasing rapidly. The number of corona patients is surging on a large scale in rural areas of the Amravati district. Necessary measures need to be taken."
