Malad: A recently unemployed couple from Maharashtra's Malad has set a model by providing free meals to the needy during lockdown.
Fayaz Shaikh and his wife Mizga have been feeding nearly 2,000 people in Malad.

Fayaz and Mizga are providing door-step delivery of free ration in the Ambojwadi area of Malad, where migrant workers reside.
By running a community kitchen, the couple is also giving employment to many women.
Fayaz Shaikh was working with a renowned perfume-making company but he was sacked earlier this year.
He also withdrew Rs. 5 lakh from his provident fund to serve the poor and needy. Fayaz has been saving the money for building a house.

Apart from this, Fayaz has also waived off the fees in the school which he runs and is paying the teachers using the money from his gratuity fund.
When the lockdown was imposed in Maharashtra this year, he assured many migrant workers that he would arrange their food if they do not return to their home states as it would result in the spread of more covid infection and the cases would rise.
