Thane: Train services at the Thane railway station were disrupted for about half-an-hour when a man climbed up an electric pole at the station on Wednesday.
The young man, named Mangal Rampal Yadav, was a resident of Jharkhand's Simdega district and had come to Mumbai for work.
He climbed on top of an electric pole to which overhead cables were attached at the station. The incident took place at 5 am in the morning.
As soon as the Thane Lohma Highway Police got information about the incident, they rushed to the station. After around 20 minutes of continuous efforts, they were finally successful in bringing the man back down.
However, due to the man's reckless act, trains services in Mumbai were affected and the schedule was lagged back by about 20 minutes.
On being questioned, Rampal could not tell anything about the reason behind his actions.
After a detailed enquiry into the case, the police said: "He was unemployed for a very long time, as a result of which he committed the act."
