IAF chopper comes to rescue of people stranded on rooftop

IAF chopper rescued 9 people, stranded atop a building in Thane's Kalyan on Saturday. They were rescued and dropped at Mumbai airport.

Mumbai: A helicopter-borne team of the Indian Air Force rescued nine persons stranded on a rooftop in neighbouring Thane district on Saturday which is being lashed by heavy rains.

A defence spokesperson said that nine persons were stranded on the terrace of a building close to the Ulhas river near Kalyan. He further added a chopper was sent to rescue them.

While Thane city recorded 160 mm rainfall till 8 am Saturday, Murbad tehsil recorded 332 mm, while Kalyan, Ulhasnagar and Amberanth recorded over 200 mm of rainfall each.
