Mumbai: Former Reliance VP and IIT graduate Prakash Shah has accepted the Jainism initiation and became a monk at the Gitanjali Jain Temple in Borivali in Mumbai. He was working as the Vice President of the Reliance plant in Jamnagar in Gujarat. He has chosen to be a monk instead of keeping his high-paying job. Prakash Shah's wife has also chosen to be a Jain monk.

Bina Paresh Doshi, the Corporator has said that Prakash Shah's son had become a monk even before his parents. The Shah family resides in the Parvana building, Gitanjali Nagari of Borivali. The father and son duo are IIT alumni.

Prakash Shah completed his BTech and Mtech degrees from IIT Mumbai. His son also got a BTech degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Mumbai and won a silver medal in his academic tenure. Prakash Shah's son opted for Jain initiation at the age of 24.
