Palghar(Maha): Chikoo Festival of Boradi is a two-day cultural carnival that is being celebrated in Maharashtra's Palghar district for the past 7 years.
The Chikoo Festival has been organized here which includes a presentation of shopping, tribal art, lip-smacking food and lots more.
It is the largest rural festival that houses more than 250 stalls of different varieties of Chikoo.
The Festival, which has an estimated turnover of over one crore, is organized by REWF (Ruler Entrepreneurship Welfare Foundation).
Chikoo Festival is organized for Chikoo branding in this area and for promoting the Chikoo crop in agriculture.
More than 50 varieties of sweet dishes such as Chikoo halva, Chikoo kulfi, ice cream etc made from Chikoo were available in the festival.
After the Chikoo Festival was launched in collaboration with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, the Tribal Development Organization has also made special contributions to the festival to give wide publicity to the tourism sector.
Chikoo Festival is a non-profit initiative that has given a platform for budding local entrepreneurs, artists and agro-based industry in the region.
