Pune (Maharashtra): DRDO has tested 3 remotely controlled unmanned, weaponized boats in Pune, ahead of DefExpo-2022 on Wednesday. With no human on vessel, video feed will be transferred to ground control station. It is useful for surveillance, patrols and reconnaissance of overall maritime security, claimed by Group Director PM Naik, Research& Development Establishment, DRDO.

Moreover, the boats have an endurance of about four hours and currently, they can sail at a maximum speed of 10 nautical miles/hour and this can be further increased to 25 nautical miles. Some variants of these boats use an electric propulsion system with lithium batteries, while others have a petrol engine on board.
DefExpo-2022, which was postponed in March, will now be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat between October 18 and 22.
