Amravati: One after another shocking revelations have been coming up in the sensational suicide case of Range Forest Officer Deepali Chavan. It has been unearthed that, the staff of the Gugamal forest office in Chikhaldara was always horrified by the whims of the main accused in this case, deputy chief conservator (DCF) Vinod Shivkumar. He always used to threaten the staff to shoot with his revolver if they did not obey his orders. The employees working in the Harisal range forest office narrated anecdotes of his whimsical attitude. Colleagues working with Deepali said that Shivkumar had been harassing our Madam and she was always staying under pressure. They have even alleged that, as she could not bear his harassment beyond a limit, she shot herself by service revolver.
Day before Deepali’s suicide, Shivkumar was staying at Harisal
Shivkumar used to visit the tourism complex at Harisal at any time at midnight and call in Deepali there. He was staying at Harisal the day before Deepali took the extreme step. While staying at Harisal, he had also censured her on some trivial matter, the employees said.
Forcefully stripped forest guard of his dress in full public view Samadhan Kamble, a forest guard while narrating his sad story to ETV Bharat, said that Shivkumar called us at Tarubanda and asked me to strip off my dress. He also suspended me on bribery charges.
The role played by Manisha
Everybody was baffled with surfacing the name of Manisha Uike in a letter written by Deepali addressed to her husband Rajesh Mohite. ETV Bharat visited the village Harisal and collected information about this mysterious woman. She is a Gram Panchayat member in Mangiya village situated on Harisal to Semadoh road. Deepali was under constant pressure from Shivkumar for the rehabilitation of Mangiya village. He simply orally dictated she evacuate the village immediately without any written orders. Deepali went to the village with her colleagues. The villagers had cultivated in the rehabilitated farm but on the orders of Shivkumar, Deepali had to completely destroy the standing crop. Angry villagers blocked Deepali and her staff and Manisha Uike filed a complaint against Deapali under sections of the atrocity act. But when the matter became blown out of proportion, Shivkumar retreated by denying issuing such orders.
Deepali always used to cry
Shivkumar used to call Deepali at the tourism complex at midnight and scold her in full view of guards and workers. Deepali always used to weep for the insult in full public view.
Deepali returned in a jolly mood on dooms day
On the day Deepali ended her life, it was told that she was tense. But, on Thursday, she is said to be in jolly mood. Her mother had left for Satara and Deapli chatted happily with staff in the premises of the office before leaving. At 7-30 PM, she shot herself with her service revolver.
As the phone rang, we broke the door of her house
Forest guard Satish Girgune while narrating on the spot report, said that I was chatting with my wife and another forest guard Jyoti Bisen. Then, Deepali’s mother rang us and told us to visit Deepali’s house as she smelled something wrong. We ran to her house and broke the door. Her bedroom was also closed and we had to break that door also. We saw Madam was sleeping on the bed. We thought her blood pressure may be high and she may have shot in the air. My wife when touched her chest, she felt a hole in her it. Madam had shot herself in her chest and the blood had sipped to bed. We called the doctor and he declared her dead.
