Mumbai: Since the last few months there has been a continuous spike in the active new corona patients. Various measures are being taken by the Maharashtra government, along with the strict restrictions and guidelines imposed in the entire state. As a result of this, the number of corona patients in the state is now declining.
The number of corona patients in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Aurangabad and other districts of the state is declining gradually. Therefore, these decreasing numbers are turning out to be a relief for the state.
The corona cases are declining in these major districts:
Mumbai:
The Mumbai municipal administration has not tried to hide or tried to show less rate of covid infection. The daily tests done, the number of patients, the total number of deaths is all available on the national Covid-19 website. Also, the government is provided with updated information regularly.
Between January and April 2021, the mortality rate averaged 0.71 percent. If other deaths in this period besides Covid are included, then it goes to 0.98 percent, which is still less than 1 percent. Presently, the global mortality rate is 2.11 percent, while India's mortality rate is 1.12 percent. Compared to these two rates, the mortality rate of Covid infection in Mumbai is less.
In Mumbai, so far 57,61,689 tests have been carried out and 67,99,086 patients have been found positive and 21,120 new active patients have been registered in the last week. During the week, 2,16,786 patients tested negative. On May 10, 1,794 patients were found positive out of 23,061 tests. These statistics were given by the officials of the municipality.

Nagpur:
The start of the new week was very comforting for the district of Nagpur. The lowest number of corona patients in the last month and a half was recorded on Monday. In the last 24 hours, 2,530 new active corona cases were registered in Nagpur city and district, while 6,068 have recovered from the infection. The number of active patients currently in the district are 51,143. The number of active patients last week had gone up to 75,000, but as the number of patients continues to decline, the number of active patients is also declining rapidly, which is very reassuring for Nagpur district.

Pune
1,21,513 people were tested for corona in Pune in the past eight days out of which 20,098 patients have been found infected. On Monday, unfortunately, there was an increase of 1,165 positive patients. Today's count is the lowest since the second wave of new corona-positive patients in the city. So, this is huge comforting news. Where on the one hand, the number of new patients has come down to less than one and a half thousand, and on the other hand, the number of patients recuperating is also rising. Today, 4,010 patients have been discharged in a day.
Aurangabad:
The Aurangabad city saw a surge of about a thousand new corona patients every day in March. But fortunately, in the last few days, 300 to 400 new active patients are being found every day as the number of patients is declining gradually. Though, it is being said that the number of patients has decreased due to the reduction of Covid testing by the municipality but the corporation has denied the allegations. 5,000 to 6,000 citizens were tested daily in the last few days. During that time, our positivity rate went close to 20 percent.
Therefore, citizens in contact with infected patients were being tested. The number of infected patients has gone down to 12 percent as a result, the number of citizens in contact with infected patients has also reduced and the testing has automatically decreased. Along with this, the citizens are also following the guidelines and overall care has helped to decrease the number of new active patients, informed Dr Nita Padalkar Municipal Health Officer.
