One dead after bus swept away in Maharashtra's Yavatmal

One person was killed when the bus in which he was travelling was swept off from a flooded bridge at Dahagaon in Yavatmal in Maharashtra. According to sources, six passengers were travelling in the bus when the accident took place. Search and rescue operations are underway at the spot.

Yavatmal (Maharashtra): One person was killed when the bus in which he was travelling was washed away from a bridge at Dahagaon in the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. According to sources, six passengers were travelling in the bus when the accident took place. On receiving information, officials and the Disaster Management team rushed to the spot and launched the rescue operation. Meanwhile, a body was retrieved and shifted to the Umarkhed Hospital.

The bus was going from Nanded to Nagpur when the accident took place. The villagers rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. They started evacuating the passengers from the bus safely. However, it could not be confirmed whether some passengers washed away or not. Meanwhile, officials rushed to the spot to oversee the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Gulab has weakened into a low-pressure and as a result, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the next three days, Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, informed on Monday. The weather bureau expects heavy rains over parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Konkan on Tuesday. Heavy rains are likely over isolated places over Gujarat and Konkan on Wednesday.
