86 bodies recovered after two ships sank due to Cyclone Tauktae

The rescue and relief mission is still going on for the P-305 Barge that washed away in cyclonic storm Tauktae. 188 lives have been saved so far from the P-305 Barge and Tugboat Varaprada during the rescue operations. A total of 70 bodies have been recovered by the Indian Navy alone so far.

Mumbai: The rescue and relief mission is still going on for the P-305 Barge that washed away in cyclonic storm Tauktae. 188 lives have been saved so far from the P-305 Barge and Tugboat Varaprada during the rescue operations. A total of 70 bodies have been recovered by the Indian Navy alone so far.

The bodies of 8 employees have been found lying on the beach in Raigad district while 8 more bodies were recovered from Gujrat's Valsad coast. So far, police have been successful to identify 48 of the dead bodies. The remaining bodies are undergoing DNA testing for identification.

The Navy with help of their squad of special divers conducted a search operation on the two drowned boats - P-305 Barge and Tugboat Varaprada. However, the search on P-305 Barge, no bodies were found.

The dead bodies of 8 employees were found on the Valsad seashore in Gujarat. It is now known that all these bodies belong to the crew of Barge P-305 which sank in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai due to cyclonic storm Tauktae.

These bodies were found on Saturday and Sunday. Aadhaar cards have been used to identify two of the eight bodies. While the rest of the bodies were identified as employees of the P-305 Barge from their clothes and life jackets. The local police have secured the dead bodies into custody and informed the Mumbai Police. Valsad Police have further started an investigation in this regard.
