Aurangabad (Maharashtra): The City Chowk police rescued 23 cattle in a raid conducted by them on August 10 in Maharashtra's Aurangabad district. The raid was conducted in Shahgunj area of the district.
The police, upon receiving information about cattle being sold to slaughterhouse on the occasion of Bakrid, raided the house of one Salim Abbas Qureshi in Nizamuddin Chowk at 7.30 pm in the evening.
"We had received information that cattle were about to be sold to a slaughterhouse, and we rescued 23 of them," said a police official.
The cattle were kept at City Chowk police station after the raid.
Inspector Sambhaji Pawar, City Chowk police station said, "A case has been registered in the matter and further investigation is underway."
