Man tests Covid positive thrice in 9-months in Gwalior

A 30-year-old youth in the city has become corona-infected for the third time within 9-months. This is the first such case in Gwalior where a man is getting Corona infection repeatedly. The sample of the young man will be collected for the Genome Sequencing investigation.

Gwalior: The young man first complained of a cold and fever on 26 July 2020. After investigation, he turned out to be corona infected. He stayed in home isolation and recovered from mild symptoms. He again tested positive on October 15 2020 and once again recovered following home isolation. Now, the youth has again tested positive for on 25 April 2021.

It is generally believed that once a person is infected by Coronavirus, antibodies are developed in the person, protects it from getting a fresh corona infection. But in this case, the youth have tested positive thrice within 9-months.

Regarding this matter, District Health Officer Dr Manish Sharma said that they do not have such information yet. "We are taking information about when and how this young man has been exposed to infection, as well as after gathering information, the sample of the young man will be sent for genome sequencing investigation," he said.

The doctor has further added that there are fewer cases where a person is repeatedly getting Corona infection. In the second wave of Covid, how long the antibody works in the new strain is also a subject of research.
