Indore: A day after former Madhya Pradesh minister and Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma asked about the reason of increasing the minimum age of marriage for girls if they are ready for reproduction at the age of 15 years triggered a controversy around the political arena.
He has been facing backlashes by his own party members since his comment hit headlines.
MLA from Sonkatch constituency, Verma was responding to a question asked by the reporters about the statement made by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a 'Nari Samman' program on Monday, wherein he had said that the marriage age of girls should be increased from 18 to 21 years.
Taking a dig over the comment of Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and strategist in this West Bengal election, Kailash Vijayvargiya raised several questions over his upbringing.
Vijayvargiya, who came in Madhya Pradesh's Indore to celebrate Makar Sakranti said, "I think, his (Sajjan Singh) parents have not given him proper upbringing. If his parents have given a good childhood, he would have not spelt these kinds of statement."

When asked about the West Bengal elections, the party strategist claimed of more than 40 MLAs in contact with the saffron party to join the party before the state Assembly elections.
"More than 40 TMC MLAs are willing to join the Bhartiya Janata Party. We will first scrutinise those who are willing to move from the Mamata led government", added Vijayvargiya.
West Bengal is scheduled to go for Assembly polls in mid-2021. The dates have not been announced yet. BJP had stunned the Trinamool Congress in 2019 Lok Sabha polls as it wrested 18 parliamentary constituencies, coming up with its best-ever performance in the state. Post the historic Lok Sabha showing, the party considers winning upcoming Assembly polls as crucial and wants to send out a strong message to the opposition by winning the state.
