Bhopal: BJP state president Rakesh Singh on Wednesday said terrorism is a symbol of "sacrifice and austerity."

"Bhagwa can never be terrorism, those who wore Bhagwa can never be terrorists. Terrorism is a symbol of tyaag, tapasya and balidan (sacrifice and austerity)," Singh said while addressing an election rally here.

"Whenever elections are around the corner the Congress leaders and Digvijaya Singh bow their heads before Bhagwa's shelter," he added.

Singh also asked people to vote for Pragya Singh Thakur, who has been fielded by BJP in Bhopal against Digvijaya.

"BJP has fielded Sadhvi Pragya as its candidate. It is clear that the new energy of spirituality and development is about to flow from Bhopal and its centre will be in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

Thakur is among the seven accused facing trial in the Malegaon blast case, wherein six people were killed and a dozen others were injured when a bomb placed on a motorcycle exploded in Maharashtra's Malegaon on September 29, 2008.
