Due to the high risk of getting contaminated from the virus, many health workers left their home and make the quarantine centres as their 'temporary houses'.

A similar case of a health worker can be seen at a quarantine centre at Chindwara's Singodi where a nurse, Poonam Bhade has been staying at the centre for the last two months, leaving her 1.5-year-old baby at her parents' home.

When ETV Bharat asked the iron lady about her small baby, she said, "I am a health worker. My prime duty is to save the nation at the time of the pandemic. I chose the nation over my family."

"Nobody is forcing me for duty. This is my personal decision about staying at the quarantine centre. I like to serve the society. This is what our profession has taught us during our academic activities" said Poonam.

The health worker further said that she got a transfer from Burhanpur to here in order to stay in touch with the infant child.

"It seems the God wants me to serve society. I have not spent a single minute with my child since I got transferred from Burhanpur", added Poonam.

She further added that she left the child at her parents' house and whenever she aspires to talk with her child, she makes a video call.

The nurse maintained that she wishes that the world will overcome this pandemic soon.

The contagious disease has infected more than 40 lakhs people and killed over three lakhs worldwide.
