Shahdol: Six labourers lost their lives and five were injured in a cave-in on Saturday in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district. Reportedly, the injured have been admitted to a hospital.
According to sources, the labourers were engaged in soil excavation in a mine on Budhwa Road in the Beohari police station area. Suddenly a part of the mine collapsed and the workers were buried in the rubble. Following the mishap, five people died on the spot, one person died while on the way to the hospital.
The critically injured persons were rushed to the hospitals. Three of the injured are being treated in the Shahdol district hospital while two have been admitted in Beohari hospital, sources said.
The rescue operation has ended. A case has been registered and further investigation is on regarding the incident, sources added.
Speaking to media persons, local MLA, Sharad Kol said," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family of deceased. He has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the labourers who lost their lives."
