Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An FIR has been lodged on Wednesday after the security guard of Bhopal Tribal Museum thrashed a street dog till death on Monday.
The case has been registered following the statement of the Animal Protection and Welfare Association, two days after the incident occurred.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, Bhopal- Zone 3 ASP Ram Sanehi Mishra said that a case has been registered after investigating the CCTV footage installed at the entrance gate of the museum.
"A dog was thrashed with sticks by a 34-year-old security guard on Monday. Post-mortem report also confirmed the reason for death was a head injury", added Bhopal SSP.
The man has been charged under IPC sections 428 (Mischief by killing or maiming animal), 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc) and Section 11(1) of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, police said.
Under Section 429, the culprits shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both.
