Indore: A 13-year-old girl, Palak Sharma hailing from Indore in Madhya Pradesh will be awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, 2021 for her exceptional abilities and outstanding accomplishments in sports on Monday.
Palak is the star swimmer of Madhya Pradesh, who proved her mettle several times in National Championships. She won the gold medal at the 10th Asian Age Group Championship 2019 for India.
Meanwhile, speaking to ETV Bharat, Palak said that she is blessed to get Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar and expressed her happiness.
"I was fond of swimming when I was studying in standard three and after that when I told my wish to the family, they supported me for this and also provided proper coaching. I practised hard and participated in various swimming competitions and after that, I started playing for India," Palak said.
Reportedly, due to participating in swimming competitions in the driving category and winning various national and international games, she is being awarded.
"My parents raised me like boys and with this, my coach also left no stone unturned in his hard work. Under the guidance of my coach Sir Ramesh Vyas I used to practice for 8 hours And as a result, the President and Prime Minister have rewarded my hard work," she added.
32 children have been awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, 2021. The Government of India has been awarding the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to the children with exceptional abilities and outstanding accomplishments, in the fields of innovation, scholastics, sports, arts & culture, social service and bravery.
The awardee children are from 32 districts of 21 States/UTs. 7 awards have been given in the field of Art & Culture, 9 awards have been given for Innovation and 5 for scholastic achievements. 7 children have won in Sports category, 3 children have been felicitated for Bravery and one child has been honoured for her efforts in the field of Social Service.
