PM Modi to inaugurate Asia's largest solar plant in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate Asia’s largest solar power plant in Madhya Pradesh‘s Rewa district on 10 July 2020. The 750 MW ultra mega solar power plant will be inaugurated through video conferencing. The Union Minister for Power and Renewable Energy RK Singh has also been invited to attend the inauguration of this massive power plant.

Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Asia's largest solar power plant in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district on July 10 this year. The announcement was made by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

According to officials, PM Modi will be dedicating the 750 MW ultra mega solar power plant to the nation through video conferencing. The Union Minister for Power and Renewable Energy RK Singh has also been invited to attend the inauguration of the massive power plant.

The inauguration of the ultra mega solar plant in Rewa will add to the progress made in that direction as India continues to tread on a path aiming at greater reliance on environment-friendly and renewable energy sources, officials said.

Speaking to reporters here, Rewa constituency MLA, Rajendra Shukla said," The Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Project has a total capacity of 750 MW. It is one of the largest solar projects in the world. For this project, 1270.13-hectare government revenue land and 335.7-hectare private land have been made accolated in Gurh tehsil of Rewa district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the national goal to achieve 100 GW of solar power generation capacity by 2022 when India will complete 75 years of its Independence from British rule."

"The Union ministry had approved the project under its solar park scheme and allocated a fund of Rs 12 lakh per MW. The process of the reverse auction in bidding for projects was tried for the first time in India under this project. The inauguration of the mega solar power plants will be a forward step for India in realising this goal and shifting dependence on more environment-friendly and renewable energy sources," Shukla added.
